Fair Trials and Cruel Punishment

Israel is notorious for imprisoning Palestinians for prolonged periods of time without fair trials. There are approximately 4,184 Palestinians in Israeli jails. Almost 200 of them are children. These children have no access to lawyers, cannot notify members or parents, are coerced into signing documents in Hebrew, which they don’t understand. Palestinians who do have their time in court, are also more likely than not to be tried in a military court. There is a near 100% conviction rate. Many of the detainees face harsh conditions, including physical torture.
