The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) uses a range of tactics, including raids, movement restrictions, jail time, and harassment, to target human rights defenders, journalists and others who criticized Israel’s continuing occupation and apartheid. The infamous Ahed Tamimi, a 19-year-old Palestinian activist who was arrested in 2018 (then 16) for 8 months is just one of many people arrested. Her mother was also once arrested by the IDF. Israel has many vague laws in place allowing Palestinians to be arrested for almost everything in the name of “security”.
