And The Silver Spoon
"How'd you find me?" you ask
"Well...I wasn't really sure it was you. All I knew was that we had similar powers. And..."
He pauses. You notice him shift his weight nervously.
"And?"
"And...I followed you home last night and watched Franny storm out of your townhouse. That was when I grabbed her."
You take in the information carefully. You want to react in fear, but instead, you force a quiet laugh.
"You're a smart kid,"" you tell him. Franny's eyes flash a bit in betrayal. You just pray she catches onto your tactics.
"Are you happy?"
You think carefully, gaze shifting between your son and your girlfriend.
"No,"" you say. "Of course not."
Theo sits in your answer a moment. He lowers his head.
You blink. Theo is gone.
Franny stumbles a bit from Theo's sudden sprint away. You lunge for her and catch her, running you both inside the roof access door and away from the edge.
She rips herself away from you, sprinting for the roof access door.
"Get away from me!" she screams. "You're a liar and I never want to see you EVER again!"
You aren't sure if it's about the secret son, the hostage situation, or the anniversary.
You hear her echoey steps descend further and further down the stairs to the street.
You are alone.
