Women of NYC by Pilar Casazza

This interactive map connects eight influential women in New York City to the subway stations nearest to the neighborhoods where they lived, worked, or created. The two datasets, women and subway stations, show how each woman's life and contributions are tied to a specific place in the city. Each station was chosen to reflect the neighborhood most closely associated with her impact, from Zora Neale Hurston in Harlem to Patti Smith in Chelsea, allowing viewers to explore the city's history through the stories of these women.
