ROAD TO THE FUTURE

You begin running back to where it all began, your old home, the grassland. With all the great times in the mountains running through your mind, you know you can't fail. Even now, you don't really think of the creature so much, and when you do, its in a very different way. You don't mind if it's all anyone talks about, because it isn't all that you think about. You don't mind that, when you were young, some people wondered if you were linked to this creature because it showed up when you were born and grew up when you did, because now you know it's not a part of you. You don't care that it's name is the one on your sword, because you're the one who's carried that sword through the best and worst of times. The sword is yours, no matter who's name happens to be on it. You feel no hate for the monster, and you realize that most of your hate of it came from insecurities within yourself. When you arrive at the harbor where it lives and stare it down, you feel like you're meeting an old friend.
