The truck stops at the facility and dumps all of the garbage into a landfill, your wrapper is placed with all other trash which are supposed to biodegrade slowly but this is not the case.
They pile a layer of soil over the landfill to keep animals out and let the decomposing process continue, but since your wrapper is only plastic the colors fade and chemicals seep out while the plastic remains.
