And The Silver Spoon

You are Michael Simmons. You are 70.

30 years ago, your long-lost son became the supervillain Apex and he kidnapped your girlfriend Franny to exact his revenge on you for leaving him as an orphan at 5 years old.

You had the chance to save Franny, but Apex got away with her anyway.

You never stopped searching. You never stopped prowling the streets as The Bolt searching for her. You went into every building possible and tore it apart from top to bottom.

You became the supervillain you swore you would never become. A terrorist to Manhattan rather than a savior. People hated you instead of praising you. People wanted you dead.

The government had to step in. When you were 50, they captured you, detained you, and kept you locked in a padded cell.

You couldnt tell if you were thousands of feet underground or on a ship in the middle of the ocean or in a regular prison. There was no way of knowing.

Its been 20 years now. Youve spent every second of those twenty years in your cell, thinking of all the choices youve been given in life and all the things you would change if you could.

Youve developed a fatal illness since being detained by the military. They set you up with a lousy hospital bed in your cell.

Today was the day you were going to die. You could feel it.

As breathing became harder, and as your vision became blurrier, you looked up at the bright white light bulb that constantly lit your space and hummed at you. Relentlessly, never-ending.

You felt a soothing feeling of closure as you finally decided what it was you would differently.

You wouldnt change lunging for Franny. You wouldnt change forgetting your eighth anniversary. You wouldnt even keep Theo if you could turn back time.

But you never would have taken that internship at a biotechnology company when you were a teenager.

Game Over.
