After a number of years in the same district, your success in the classroom leads to you being considered for an administrative position in the school. Ultimately, you decide not to go through with it; you love being in the classroom with your students too much. You decide not to ruin a good thing, and continue to teach in the same district for the remainder of your long, relatively happy career.
You may not be famous in the most straightforward sense of the word, but kids come back for many years to visit you. They express their gratitude for your skills and care for each student in your class. Some tell you how you got them to finally start enjoying reading, or how you explained a math problem in a way that helped them for years to come. You are content and fulfilled by your life, and you know that you would not have found nearly as much happiness in a different career.
