"I want you to take all this stuff down in here."
Theo frowns, standing up in a heartbeat.
"What? You can't make me do that."
"I can," you retaliate, standing so that you tower over him. "And you'll do as I say. This stuff is dangerous."
Theo snorts at you. "What about this is dangerous? Everyone likes superheroes. All my friends at school got me into it."
"Don't argue back with me," you blurt out, your chest tightening in frustration. Jesus, why won't he just listen to you?
Theo shrinks into his shoulders. You feel the smallest twinge of regret for raising your voice, but it seems to be the only way through to him.
"I want this all gone by tomorrow morning. I don't care if it takes you all night."
You turn on your heel before you can hear him argue back.
With that same twinge of regret, you realize Theo was too heartbroken, confused, and furious to argue back with you anyway.
