And The Silver Spoon

You are Michael Simmons. You are 45.

Five years ago, you told your son the truth about who you are. In turn, he did the same.

Ever since, you have been a notorious Manhattanite crime-fighting duo, known respectively as The Bolt and Apex.

Parental instinct would tell any normal parent to tie Theo down and prevent him from ever leaping off of buildings or taking on supervillains in Times Square.

But you're anything but a normal parent.

As you sprint through the streets of New York City, your son flying overhead at lightning speed, you still think of her. You could be anywhere in the world, doing anything possible, and you'll still always think of Mary.

You wonder, if life had folded out the way it was supposed to for her, what kind of man Theo would be today.

But hearing Theo's cheers echo throughout the city, and experiencing the rush of vigilanteism with him, begins to numb the perpetual question of what if as time goes on.

The more you live it, the more you become convinced that THIS is how life was always supposed to unfold. That something this kismet can't have nearly missed you.

You are Michael Simmons. Theo Hardin is your son.

And you woulnd't have it any other way.

The End
