Yearbook Terms

Spread: both pages, side by side (example page one and two).

Folio: the page numbers on the page.

Lead in: either a word or sentence that starts at the beginning of a caption that describes the picture.

Ladder: a document that lists all of the pages in the yearbook and who is assigned to what.

Student list: a binder that listed every student’s classroom at the time of yearbook. (For us it was fourth period).

Walsworth: the program that my school used to make the yearbook; differs school by school.

Bleed lines: the hypothetical lines that were at the ends of the pages and could cause pictures or text to go off the page.

Dummy text: text that was used to show captions, stories, and headlines.

Mods: a section on the page that contains a question, small interview, or topic.

Showstopper: a student story that takes up two pages.

Gutter: where the pages meet in the middle.

Divider: a page or spread that seperates the sections in the book.
