He's giving her great notes, telling her how to grow and break out of her shell. It wasn't until she noticed he put his hand on her thigh that she realized he was sitting pretty close to her.

Almost too close.

She felt pretty uncomfortable with him touching her like this, but she deeply wanted to impress him. He is her boss, after all.
