Citi Field
- Groundbreaking for Citi Field began on November 13, 2006 by Hunt-Bovis (joint venture of Hunt Construction Group and Bovis Lend Lease) for a total cost of $632 million.
- Although the stadium opened on April 3, 2009 for Major League Baseball, a college game between NYC local St. John’s versus Georgetown was actually the first official game played on Citi Field on 03/29/2009.
- The max seating capacity is 42,000, and a fun attraction at Citi Field is the famous Home Run Apple from Shea Stadium that was brought over to Citi Field. After each home run by a Mets player, this famous giant apple pops up out of the place where it is housed and lights up.
