- The Marlins finished in 2nd place, only 4 games behind the first place Atlanta Braves in the NL East. Miami also came in tied for the 5th best record in the National League and tied for 12th in the entire MLB.
- The Miami Marlins earned a spot as the 6th seed in the postseason for the National League's side. Miami swept the Chicago Cubs in the Wild Card Series but were soon swept themselves against the Atlanta Braves in the best-of-five National League Division Series. The Marlins finished the playoffs with a 2-3 record.
- Miami made the playoffs for the first time since 2003 when they won the World Series. In the entirety of the club's history, the Marlins have only made the postseason twice, in 1997 and in 2003. Both trips to the postseason resulted in the team winning the World Series.
- 2020 was the first year that the Marlins did not finish the regular season with a losing record. The last time the team finished with a winning record was back in 2009.

Marlins Park
- Marlins Park was built in 2012 by the Hunt Construction Group for a total cost of $515 million.
- The stadium is able to seat 37,442 fans, includes a retractable roof, and is only the second ballpark in baseball to feature a pool.
- A unique feature is located directly behind home plate, where on both sides of the backstop are twin 450 gallon saltwater aquariums containing up to 50 fish. Bulletproof glass prevents the aquariums from shattering in the event a foul ball strikes one of them.
