The Diamond in the Rough

A story written by Hanna Meyers

You sprain your ankle in a freak accident unrelated to baseball, and the urgent care physician estimates a four- to six-week recovery. But after taking it easy the rest of the weekend, the pain isn’t unbearable. Your dad reminds you about the important eight-game home stand coming up and is anxious to get you back on the field as soon as possible, but your mom doesn’t want you to rush the recovery and risk re-injury.

Do you...

  1. Listen to your dad, and train harder through your injury so you can stay in the lineup and continue to play.
  2. Listen to your mom, and let your recovery run its course. It’ll be nice to take a break from the game anyway.
