When the birth of Cinema first made its way to America in the late 1800s, the first place it went was New York City. Inventors such as Thomas Edison and filmmakers such as Alice Guy-Blache built the beginnings of the film industry before the movement eventually moved out to California due to the need of larger spaces and Edison trying to place a patent on all film technology.
